Goin’ to the chapel

My dear friend Elisa is getting married on Saturday and tonight is the bachelorette party. I can’t wait!

Was it really almost THREE years ago that Jon and I were in that same place?? Here we are at our rehearsal dinner.

Ha! Don’t we look excited, nervous and completely, completely freaked out?

And a few days later on our way to our honeymoon in Durango, Colorado:

The honeymoon vacation is the best invention ever after the whirlwind of planning a wedding and getting married. I told Jon we should just do a honeymoon every year. 🙂

Now I’m curious!! If you are married, where did you go on your honeymoon? And if you’re not, where do you dream of going?

  1. Ha! I love Jonny's expression in the rehearsal dinner picture!! I have not seen this one before…so hysterically cute! 🙂

Congrats to Elisa and Mario! What a fun adventure they are about to embark on! Wahoo!!

  2. We went to New York City to see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. We then spent the rest of the week in Boston & Martha's Vineyard. It was amazing!

I agree with you. The honeymoon is the best thing after the craziness of a wedding. We take a mini-honeymoon each year. We usually just get a couple of hours down the road, but getting away from the craziness of our 3 kids for even a night is rejuvenating for us!! 🙂

  3. We are approaching our 21st anniversary in a few months. When we got married, my hubby told me we were going to Gatlinburg, TN. He then encouraged me to nap on the way. I woke up in St. Joe, MO, and knew that we were NOT on the way to Gatlinburg. We actually went to Big Cedar Lodge in Springfield, MO and it was very nice. But I was furious that he'd told everyone except me where we were going. He learned right then not to pull big surprises on me because I do not enjoy being made to look like an idiot. I'm surprised he's survived all these years!

  4. We didn't go on a honeymoon. We got married when we were still in college so classes were on Monday. We had planned on going over Thanksgiving break, less than a month later, and actually won a cruise to the Bahamas but we couldn't afford to pay the port taxes. There are a lot of lovely places I'd love visiting with my husband, but I think a honeymoon is not something you get back. After that newlywed period, it's simply a vacation. And with 2 small children and a 3rd on the way, I don't see any romantic getaways in our future! =)

  5. I've always wanted to go to Ireland (I love it there so much, and think it's probably the most beautiful place on earth!), Austria, or Prince Edward Island for my honeymoon. However, when the time comes, I'll probably be happy as long as it doesn't involve camping!

  6. Whenever I get married, I really really want to go to Scotland! I think it sounds so romantic to stay in a little cottage in the countryside and take long walks and explore little towns and castles. 🙂

  7. I know that this question has nothing to do with honeymoon destinations, but how come we can't buy Latte Daze from erynnmangum.com? I have been looking for it in Mardel and Lifeway, but I have never been able to find it, so I thought I would buy it off your website until I found out that it is not available for purchase. I would love to find out what will happen with Maya and Jack and I would love to have a book autographed by you. I will be checking your website to in anticipation of Latte Daze being available for purchase.
Have a blessed day and enjoy Nathan!

  8. I've always thought somewhere tropical would be nice, like Hawaii. But Europe would be awesome too!!!
