I’m Dreaming…

Tomorrow our second set of company in the last few weeks comes. Yay! I can’t wait to see Tommy, Ashlee, Josh and Lily! 🙂

So, I’m cleaning today. And working this afternoon. And trying to figure out meals for this coming week. I love it when family and friends come in town!

My friends Kaitlin and Eitan who stayed with us a few weeks ago are traveling today, so if you think of it, please be praying for safe travel! Also for Tommy and Ashlee who are starting their trip this afternoon. Lots of traveling prayers! 🙂

My fall has been busy! But, despite all the busyness, I’ve still found time for this:

CHRISTMAS MUSIC!!!

Yups, you read that right! I always start listening to Christmas music starting October 1st. Every single year! It’s one of my all-time favorite traditions. It never fails – I can be having one of the worst days, I get in my car and the Christmas music turns on and I get the biggest grin on my face. I love it!

I listened to two in particular all growing up so they have some nostalgic memories attached to them. It’s just not Christmas without Steven Curtis Chapman and Bryan Duncan!

Bing Crosby has to have like one of the all-time best Christmas albums ever. And one of the best movies. White Christmas is classic and if you haven’t watched (and poked fun) at that movie, then go get a cup of hot chocolate, a blanket and settle in for a good time.

And you know me. 🙂 I had to include Elvis! Elvis crooning “It’s Christmas Time” is how I start out my Christmas season every year! Gotta love it!

I’m working on an iMix in iTunes so you guys can listen to Christmas music along with me. I’m doing my best to spread holiday cheer!

  1. Oh boy, my mother could never live at your house! She won't even let us put the tree up till mid-December. 🙁 Ah well, she does let us start Christmas music after Thanksgiving.
Are you one of those weird people that buys Halloween candy in August?

  2. I LOVE the Christmas season. It really is the most wonderful time of the year. I don't start mine until the day after Thanksgiving though.

I'm already starting to get in the Christmas spirit this year though! Usually I get irritated when the Christmas displays are up before the Halloween decorations are down (too much of a good thing makes it less exciting when it really IS here, imo) but this year I've actually been getting excited for it.

My christmas music tastes vary widely and include everything from Bing Crosby, to Elvis, Nat King Cole to Michael Buble, Newsong, to Mariah Carey. I need a little bit of everything.

As far as Christmas movies, I LOVE White Christmas! It brings back memories of watching it with my father when I was little. That and "It's a Wonderful Life" are two holiday musts. While You Were Sleeping is even better at Christmastime. Also, the Grinch (original), Rudolph, Frosty the Snowman… You're never too old for the Christmas movie classics!

  3. Christmas music is pretty much my favorite thing in the world! I try to make myself wait until Nov. 1st (I don't count the week in July where I sneak a listen!) but last week I put all 800+ of my Christmas songs on my iPod in preparation! Many members of my family think that Christmas music should wait until Christmas Eve, but they're learning that rules like that around me don't work! 🙂

  4. I usually wait until the day after Thanksgiving to start my Christmas music, but yesterday, I just couldn't resist. I popped in a Christmas cd and it seriously put me in the BEST mood 🙂 October or not..christmas music always lifts the spirits 🙂

  5. Finally, someone who enjoys Christmas music in October…okay, I sometimes listen to it in September too. I just love that feeling when the Christmas Wish Catalogue comes and you know you can start the Christmas music up soon! 🙂

  6. Erynn,

Every time I read your blog, I end up smiling. You are such a fun person.

I do my best to wait until the day after Halloween – but sometimes I cheat with the music a little early. And I agree – getting in the car and listening to those songs – it can completely change your mood.

Have a great time with your friends!

  7. I love chrismas music, but tend to wait a bit longer before putting it on my ipod (i have to delete songs to fit it this year…). However, my brother has a thing about christmas music, and as such thinks that January 1st is the right time to start listening to it for the year (he does tend to stop for boxing day – new years eve week)… which makes for interesting looks on the bus when you're sitting with him and he randomly sings a christmas song in February…

  8. I play piano and play christmas music ALL YEAR! 🙂 I also listen to christmas music on my ipod so no one else will no 🙂
