What Happens When A Viking Fan Marries A Person Who Doesn’t Care About Football

I think I just made a new record for my longest blog title to date. Yay me!

Today is Monday which means that tonight is Monday Night Football. But, not just any Monday Night Football. No, tonight the Vikings play.

Apparently, this is cause for celebration, ecstatic phone calls to people who care (meaning not me), eating Lucky Charms for breakfast (uh, ok), and happily bouncing around the house while recounting stories of Viking games of old.

Jon loves the Vikings.

Me? By family tradition I have to say the Cowboys (although, Dad is growing colder and colder toward his childhood team). Really, I wish I were a Packers fan. This is why:

Is there a cheesier hat for the NFL? Or a funnier hat? I love these! I really do wish I were a die-hard Packer fan just so I could wear this hat. They call Packer fans the “Cheese Heads”. Ha! I tell people I’m a Cowboys fan by default and they call me names my mother doesn’t let me say.

Maybe I’ll convert to the Packers. And there’s no better time than now because the Vikings play the Packers tonight. And what better way to drive my wonderful husband crazy than to root for the other team?

Marriage just gets more and more fun!

  1. I usually cheer for the team that my family is against. It makes the event so much more interesting even when I don't really care who wins. Enjoy the game. 🙂

  2. My dad is a die hard Cowboys fan too. So I guess I'm also a "Cowboys fan by default". I babysit four, little girls, all of them avid redskin fans, and when they found out I was a Cowboys "fan", a new tradition was born. Every time they hear I'm coming over, they wear their jerseys and decorate the living room with Redskin paraphernalia. When I walk through the door I always act surprised and completely sickened. They love it. I wonder what they'd say if I showed up in the cheese hat? Hmm… Hope you enjoyed the game! 😛

  3. Oh Erynn, you must convert! Sure, we lost last night, but you have to admit, we did a fairly good job! Jon really doesn't know what he's talking about, the Green Bay Packers are #1. End of story. 🙂 Oh, and he mustn't forget, his team won with our old quarterback.

  4. I'm with you. I wish I was a Packer fan as well, but for a different reason. You see, I'm from Wisconsin, so they're the team I'm supposed to root for…that is, if I liked the sport. Which I don't. I mean, who cares of someone scores a homerun because they made a slam dunk? ;)Seriously, though, I just don't understand the game.

  5. HAHAHA yes I am anti-cowboys, probably because I live in Louisiana and we have more Cowboys stuff around the city than we do Saints, which is our Louisiana team. Doesn't make sense. Go to Texas, Cowboy fans! Get out of LA! =) I'm really not a football fan at all, though I do loyally cheer for the college team, LSU, that my hubby supports. In fact, my Little Miss is going to be an LSU cheerleader for Halloween. It's the cutest little perfect and gold uniform, and she'll have pompoms with it. She'll be a hit at the church carnival.

Last Saturday while LSU was playing (and winning!) we taught Little Miss to hold up one finger when we asked her "What's LSU?"

Number One!! hehehe. Kids are so fun!

  6. I confess. I LOVE watching football. It's so exciting! And the Vikings won!! Wahoo! 🙂 Vikings rock!

  7. Haha! Don't convert, Erynn!! Even though us Cowboys may not be the greatest, we're still America's Team! 🙂 I am routinely disappointed by "the 'boys", but I'm not giving up!! 🙂

  8. Sadly, I have worn one of those hats before because, well, I'm from Wisconsin. So yes, I've donned foam cheese on my head.

My hubby is a diehard Cowboys fan by the way…good, good times.
