What I’ve Been Up To

Good morning!

These last few days one of my best friends and her husband have been in town visiting, so I’ve been soaking up the time with them. Sorry for the delay in posting!

It is officially October! I absolutely love this month! In Albuquerque, we have something called the International Balloon Fiesta and it is a really huge deal here. Thousands of hot air balloon for a whole week and it starts on Saturday.

Here’s a picture of two of my favorite balloons:

Aren’t they adorable? I just love them! I’ve been going to the Balloon Fiesta since I was a little kid and it’s still SO much fun!

My brother-in-law, sister-in-law and their two kids, Josh and Lily, are coming in town for part of the Fiesta. I can’t wait to see two-year old Josh’s reaction to the balloons! Lily is only a few months old, so she probably won’t appreciate it as much, but you never know!

So, I’ve been stalking blogs like Money Saving Mom for a while now and have been quite convicted about the grocery bill that Jon and I rack up every month. I have been trying to cut it down for the last several months and have failed miserably every time! Not only could we use the extra money in savings, but it also frees up more for us to give if we do better in that area. I think that’s the one place we go over every month in our budget.

I figure if this woman can feed her family (I think she has three kids) for $40 a week, Jon and I should definitely be able to do that! I’m going to write it here so maybe I’ll be more proactive in sticking to it if I know you guys know how much I’m supposed to spend. πŸ™‚

So, welcome to October! Do you have anything fun planned for this month?

  1. I LOVE the autumn months too!! October is a lovely one with the leaves changing colors, grass turning brown and snow gently falling from the sky… well… at least in Minneosta. πŸ˜‰ Ok that may be an exaggeration. It usually holds off until November. πŸ™‚

The balloon festival sounds like a blast! It's so much fun to make memories like that.

Well… this month my mom and I are going to Women of Faith! Here's the link for a peek: http://www.womenoffaith.com/

    Tootles!

  2. Wow, those are some spiffy balloons. Never been to Albuquerque, but I have this picture in my head of it being beautiful in the fall!

There are things I adore about fall, but really I'm always sad to see the warm months go. Winter and I have yet to become reconciled to each other. :p

As for special plans, I get to spend the week in IL with friends – and my second novel Behold the Dawn was released today!

  3. I was so excited to see the calendar say October 1st this morning! Unfortunately, here in Tampa Bay, Florida we don't get fall of any kind. but yesterday and today we have a cold front (85 degrees with low humidity was absolutely lovely haha seriously, it was delightful) and it is leaving tonight and tomorrow should be humid 90s once again.
after lunch i was so inspired by the fall spirit i went to Michaels crafts store and bought bags of fall leaves and decorations….today was payday and i think i spent half my check LOL. i have to compensate for the lack of fall colors. i think one tree in my neighborhood turns colors and then the leaves fall. the rest are green all year round.
your fall wreath inspired me and i bought some materials for that as well as a fall bouquet! my mother also has a little artificial fall tree that has fall leaves and little orange and yellow lights. i am psyched about the holiday season!
Have fun with the balloon festival!

  4. Erynn, you should check out the pink of perfection blog. She has lots of wonderful, practical ideas of how to save money and still get the most from life. I think you'd find a lot of useful tips!
    Happy October!

  5. Autumn is my favorite season I look forward to it every year I love seeing all the warm colors. For the past few years me and my family have been going to a pumpkin patch at a local college and picking pumpkins. Its so much fun to see all the groups of people on one side of the street waiting to go to the pumpkin patch and on the other side seeing all the people waiting to carry there pumpkins to their cars. The whole hill looks like it's been painted orange because of all the pumpkins. This year my dad wants to get tons of pumpkins to stock up. he loves my homemade pie from scratch πŸ™‚ I love baking I cant wait!!!!

Oh and by the way I love!!!! all your books πŸ˜€
