Chasing away the winter blues

Winter used to be my absolute favorite season. I loved everything about it. The snow. The cold. The sitting by the window drinking hot tea and wearing my sweaters.

Now, though, I am starting to get to the point where I don’t even like it a little bit. Nathan is constantly sick and when he’s not sick, I am. It’s so cold that it is hard to go do anything because we have to bundle up to walk to the car, unbundle to get in the car seat and then do it all over again. We all miss playing outside.

Today was one of those days. Nathan woke up with a fever and so we spent the whole day in our pajamas on the couch in-between bathroom visits. Then he threw up at dinner and we ended the day with a terrible case of diarrhea. Never, never, NEVER a fun thing when you are on Day Four of potty training.

And y’all. We watched Aladdin two and a half times today.

I will never get the “Prince Ali” song out of my head. Ever. Especially since Nathan keeps singing it.

The only plus of having a sick kid (if there is a plus), is that he’s always  much more snuggly when he’s sick. I never mind spending the day cuddling on the couch with my baby.

The good news is that he made it to lunch time without any accidents AND had a dry Pull-Up when he woke up from nap, so he got a special chocolate milkshake.

Who else is ready for spring??

  1. I'd be ready for spring were it not for my scarves, boots, and hot coffee. 🙂 I am sorry you guys have been sick. I have been too actually – since November, nonstop. I got the stomach bug and head cold at the same time too. 🙁 Get well! I'll send your little guy a get-well ecard. 🙂

  2. For those reasons and a whole lot more, I no longer enjoy winter at all. We started round 2 – or is it 3? – of sickness this morning. I need spring like I need air to breathe…

  3. I will be grateful for spring but sad to see my boots go. I wear them almost every day. lol Thank goodness I live in Louisiana and can get away with cowboy boots with dresses all year long 😉 I'm also still in mourning over Starbucks farewell to seasonal flavors. As if January isn't depressing enough. ha. Sorry your baby boy is not well! Hope he gets better quick.

    Prince Allliiiii fabulous heeee

  4. I totally understand!! Winter is fun at first (When Christmas drinks come out in Starbucks!!!)…. but then it gets boring, especially when your sick all the time 🙁 I hope Nathan feels better soon 🙂

Can I ask you a question about the Paige Torn book coming out in May? Yes? Why, thank you! hehe Will Paige be more like Laurie (Very amusing, quirky and down right amazing!) or Maya (More normal, still quite funny and quirky and cute!)??

    Thanks, Hope 🙂 x

  5. I am so ready! We had a couple of days this week that were below zero. I can handle 20's, but anything less and I'm dying! Thankfully, I'm heading to Florida in a couple of weeks, which should help! No Mickey, but the ocean instead. Hoping that Nate is feeling better soon!!!!
