Insane, Productive, Never-Ending Weekend

Good morning, almost good afternoon! πŸ™‚

This has been the craziest last few days that I’ve had in a long while. I’m SO relieved to be sitting here writing now, a brand new box of chocolate-covered pretzels beside me. I just bought them thinking they would make a good snack to eat while Jon and I watch Chopped tonight (our weekly routine, gotta love it – we are so boring!), but they just kept yelling at me while I was unloading the groceries, so of course I had to open them.

I might have to get another box before tonight. These are amazing!

So…drumroll please…we bought a car! Yay! God is so good – He blessed us with exactly what we need and much more. I have to admit, there were several times over this past month when I was convinced we would NEVER find another car, but God is so faithful. I hate that I’m so faithless.

That was only part of the craziness! I also interviewed and trained and started work these past few days. I’m now working very part-time as a before-school care assistant. Which basically means that I hang out with a bunch of fun, hilarious kids and get paid for it. It’s so nice – it’s such a great job! I work right by my house and I have loads of time to write still.

And, my hairstylist squeezed me in (yay! Thank you!) so I don’t look like Shaggy McShaggerson, like I do in this picture. I haven’t taken a picture since the haircut, so I’ll put one up sometime this week.

What have you guys been up to in the last few days?

I’m trying my hand at a crockpot pot roast tonight. We’ll see what happens – roasts were on sale at the grocery store. I’m a bit nervous. I followed a recipe by Paula Deen almost exactly, and her food always looks so good. I’ll try to get some pics of it tonight and let you know what I think!

Does anyone out there have a Siberian husky who is also blowing his/her coat???? I had NO idea that so much fur could come off of one dog! I took a picture of one grooming session – Note this is one brushing out of about 15!!

That is SO much hair – and I brushed at least that, if not more, off of him again yesterday! OY.

Here he is today. I think he’s just as tired of shedding as we are of him shedding. Such a sad puppy face. He was only making it because I was holding a bone under the camera. Kody is one of those dogs who puts on a whole depressed/sad/these-people-never-feed-me show while he’s begging. Notice in both pictures he’s got a bone. They’ve become like his pacifiers.

If you have any suggestions, please let me know! In the meantime, I hope you are having a fabulous day!

  1. Congrats on the new job and car! πŸ™‚ I've never owned a Husky, but my German Shepherd will shed sometimes… not a pretty sight. Fur everywhere. Ick. At least she's an outdoor dog πŸ˜‰
And good luck on the pot roast… I made one when I was 9 and it turned out OK, so I wouldn't worry… if I could make one when I was that little, anybody probably can. LOL.

  2. Car shopping is a pain, but the outcome is worth it. For a foolproof potroast, put the crockpot on low overnight and add the roast along with one package of onion soup mix. It is fantastic and impossible to mess up.

  3. I've never had a dog, but our cat sheds in the spring. It's also very gross. Some suggestions? Groom him every day, and check your food before eating it! Too many times I've cringed while eating after finding a kitty hair in my mouth! Yuck, I know. Maybe that's just cats – their fur is very light.

Congrats on the car! As long as it comfortably and reliably gets you from A to B, it's a keeper!

  4. Ick I remember when we HAD a husky. We used a lot of that sticky lint stuff. Thats why we let him live outside. To much fur. But then our backyard became like a furyard.

  5. Grr! I just finished writing my comment, and my web-browser decided to be finicky and lose it. πŸ™ Oh well.

    To begin again:
    1) LOVE Food Network channel.
    2) That's awesome, I'm so glad God blessed you with the car you needed!! I totally relate – I'm so thankful that God is faithful, even though we're faithless. Someday we'll learn that lesson for good!
    3) Wow, that's an incredible pile of fur! Well, I don't have a Husky (though I'd love to have one someday), but I do have a black lab who sheds almost as much! We have to vaccuum everyday/every other day because the floor gets COVERED with clouds of black fur. :-/ The only encouraging thing I can say is, fall is almost here! So hopefully the shedding will slow down soon. πŸ™‚

Oh, and from one coffee lover to another, (you probably already knew this, but in case you've forgotten) today is/was September 1st! The Pumpkin Spice Latte is now back at all Starbucks! πŸ˜€

Have a great rest of the week!
    God bless!

  6. I hope you are having a splendid Labor Day and that the sun is shining down on you. Out yellow lab Mason "Jar" is shedding a ton these last couple weeks, thus I've been thankful for this little do-dittle called the FURminator it takes out the loose undercoat of dogs. Just brush Kody outside so the birds get to enjoy the fluff. ~Maggie
